Cracker Safety Tips

A joyful Diwali starts with a safe one. Keep these simple do's and don'ts in mind every time you and your family light up the night with Sai Traders.

Do's

Burst crackers in open spaces

Always light fireworks in an open ground or terrace, away from trees, dry leaves, and parked vehicles.

Keep water and sand ready

Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby before you begin, in case of small fires or to douse used crackers.

Light one at a time

Ignite crackers one by one at arm's length using a sparkler or agarbatti, and step back immediately.

Wear cotton clothing

Cotton clothes are safer than synthetic fabrics, which can catch fire quickly.

Supervise children closely

Children should burst crackers only under adult supervision, and never handle them alone.

Read instructions first

Check the label on every cracker for directions on safe distance and handling before lighting it.

Don'ts

Don't wear loose or nylon clothes

Loose, flowing, or synthetic outfits catch fire faster and burn more severely.

Don't re-light a dud cracker immediately

If a cracker doesn't go off, wait at least 20 minutes and douse it in water before disposing of it.

Don't burst crackers in narrow lanes

Avoid narrow gullies, balconies, and crowded areas where sparks can reach people or property.

Don't hold crackers in hand

Never hold a lit sparkler or cracker in your hand, even ones marketed as 'hand-held'.

Don't store crackers near flame

Keep your cracker stock away from candles, stoves, and direct sunlight until you're ready to use them.

Don't experiment by mixing crackers

Never combine or tamper with crackers to make your own effects — use them exactly as manufactured.

In case of a burn injury

Run cool water over the affected area for several minutes and seek medical help immediately. Keep this number handy on Diwali night.
